John Hancock: A main character and is the ghoul mayor of Goodneighbor as well as a friend to Nate Jackson. Piper Wright: A main character and a reporter living in Diamond City who runs her own newspaper called Publick Occurences and is a companion to Nate Jackson. 
Codsworth: A main character and a domestic-model Mister Handy purchased by Nate Jackson, in service to him and his family in Sanctuary Hills as a butler and is also a companion to Nate. Dogmeat: A main character and a German Shepherd who serves as a companion to Nate. She was a strong, selfless, independent and emotional woman, being very kind and caring and loving towards her family and other close ones. She earned a law degree at Suffolk County School of Law and planned to get a job with her degree, and also married Nate and had a son named Shaun, and before the imminent nuclear attack, she and her family entered Vault 111 and went into cryogenic sleep into the future. Nora Jackson: A main character and is a pre-war resident of Sanctuary Hills, being Nate's wife. Nate is extremely protective of his loved ones and group and after time in the post-apocalyptic world, Nate had become battle hardened and has no hesitation in killing human threats and began to find it harder to trust people, overall becoming a more ruthless, hardened, protective and darker survivor. His greatest fault, perhaps, is his uncanny ability to place responsibility on himself and set for himself goals that are impossible to reach. 
He is typically calm, smart and a good friend, husband and father, but he will often stubbornly cling to his strong personal moral code, which has resulted in numerous bad calls and extra stress within the group. He married Nora and had a son named Shaun, and before the imminent nuclear attack, he and his family entered Vault 111 and went into cryogenic sleep into the future. He is a retired soldier who served in the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Nate Jackson: The main protagonist and is a pre-war resident of Sanctuary Hills.
